Fly far, Nichelle! You accomplished so much in your life and boldly went where no Black woman had gone before. Your role on “Star Trek” helped pave the way towards true equality for all, and you’ve held that torch high ever since. Now your spirit will truly soar into the heavens alongside those of your colleagues (Gene Roddenberry, Majel Barrett, and of course James Doohan, the beloved chief engineer “Scotty”), and all of you will boldly go where no one has gone before!
