As a young black girl growing up in blue collar Buffalo, N.Y. in the 60s and 70s and watching Ms. Nicolas at the controls as Lieutenant; Commander; Captain of the communications on the Enterprise Star Ship she gave me the courage to attend college and choose computer science as my major.
