I am eternally grateful for the inspiration Nichelle Nichols gave me as Lt. Uhura. Watching the series as a child I had aspired to go into space myself but as time went on I realized my strengths lied elsewhere. I received a bachelors degree in Earth & Planetary Science and went on to have a 35 year career with the US government in cartography and analysis. Thank you to Nichelle for letting us look to science as a career. You will be missed.
