MESSAGE:
As a girl of 13, you mesmerized me that first year as Uhura. Your race never mattered because my best friends were of color, my neighborhood was richly diverse, and there were never any issues. In you I saw what COULD be for my gender. Your strength, intelligence, savvy, music, beauty, and that calm awareness of who you are was what I dared to become. Most of all I dreamed of space and my part that could be. You carried the dream that all can be equal. Thank you.
